Why SEO is not Necessary for Business Success: A Perspective from Me

18/01/2018 :

As a learner of persuasion, I have studied the various ways in which businesses attempt to influence consumer behavior. One area that has come under scrutiny in recent years is the practice of search engine optimization, or SEO. While some argue that SEO is essential for driving traffic to a website, I would argue that it is unnecessary for businesses to invest time and resources into SEO.

One of the main reasons SEO is unnecessary is because it is a constantly changing landscape. Search engine algorithms are constantly being updated and tweaked, making it difficult for businesses to keep up with the latest trends and best practices. This means that even if a business can achieve high search engine rankings through SEO, they are not guaranteed to maintain those rankings overtime.

Another issue with SEO is that it can be expensive and time-consuming. Businesses may need to hire a team of experts or invest in expensive software in order to achieve high search engine rankings. This can be a significant drain on resources, especially for small businesses that may not have the budget to invest in SEO.

In addition, SEO can also be unethical or manipulative. Some businesses may resort to using “black hat” techniques, such as keyword stuffing or link buying in order to achieve higher rankings. I can see these practices as deceitful and can ultimately harm the business’s reputation.

Instead of focusing on SEO, businesses should focus on creating high-quality, valuable content that will attract and engage their target audience. By providing informative and engaging content, businesses can establish themselves as experts in their field and build trust with their customers. By creating content that is shareable on social media, businesses can drive more traffic to their website through word-of-mouth marketing.

Another way to improve the visibility of the website is through paid advertising, such as Google AdWords, or other pay-per-click platforms. These platforms allow businesses to target specific keywords and demographics, and can be a more efficient and cost-effective way to drive traffic to a website.

In conclusion, while SEO can be a powerful tool for driving traffic to a website, it is unnecessary for businesses to invest time and resources into it. Instead, businesses should focus on creating high-quality, valuable content and taking advantage of paid advertising opportunities. By providing value to their customers and building trust, businesses can establish themselves as leaders in their field and ultimately drive more traffic to their website.
